Biography:
Keith Hanselman, born 1931, is an established and award winning artist based in Huddersfield. He is noted for his expressive and exuberant use of colour and flattened perspective. He is a landscape and still life painter, and former textile designer.
He has won the Sunday Times wattercolour competition twice, the Frank Heering Award of the Royal Institue and Laing Painting Competition.
Keith has exhibited at Ferens Gallery in Hull, Leeds City Art Gallery, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (four times) Harrison Lord in Brighouse, and the Royal Society of British Artists.
The artist was interviewed by Yorkshire live. He said that he was delighted that one of his paintings had been accepted in the Royal Academy Summer show in London in what is one of the milestone exhibitions of any year.
The painting was called Pennine Factory.
“It would be interesting to find out how many local painters were exhibited this year in the Royal Academy,” said Keith.
“The Yorkshire carrier who took mine down to London told me that he took 600 paintings down and only three gained admission.”
