A lovely portrait of a lady wearing a hat. The artist Bob Lokhorst (1900-1972) is a dutch listed artist and well respected.

This, on the larger side oil on canvas, is dated April ’39 and came from a private collection found in an attic in an Amsterdam canal house. The label on the wooden frame surrounding the painting is dated 1934.

Bob Lokhorst was born in 1900 as Willem Frederik Lokorst. He was a Dutch painter who died in 1972. He was a watercolorist, lithographer, draftsman, etcher, painter, wood engraver and linocutter. He followed training in Amsterdam and in Berlin. His work was exhibited in A.O. Laren, Utrecht, the Hague and several French exhibitions.

There are what appear to be some white paint splatterings to the left of the lady and the odd scuff mark. In overall very good condition and ready to hang and enjoy.
