This is a very well executed painting of an art deco gentleman. It is a rather striking portrait.
The painting is signed Leon Galand and dated 1924 to the top right.
Approx dimensions including frame: H:91cm W:71cm D:3.5cm
Condition: We have had this painting professionally cleaned and varnished. As such the painting is in good condition. The sides of the painting have not been cleaned and does not take away from the painting itself, particularly if framed.

BIOGRAPHY:
Léon Laurent Galand was a French painter and illustrator born April 18, 1872 in Montpellier (Hérault) and died November 4, 1960 in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine). Léon Galand was a pupil of Ernest Michel, Robert Delaunay, Gustave Moreau, Fernand Cormon and Joseph Blanc. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1904 and obtained a gold medal and a 2nd Prix de Rome, an honorable mention in 1903 at the Salon of French Artists, a third class medal in 1909. He was decorated with the Legion of Honor in 1924. He also sent his works to the Winter Salon. He painted portraits, landscapes especially of Brittany and Provence, genre scenes and nudes.
