Artist Biography

Constance Nash was a modern British artist. She studied art at Goldsmiths in London and exhibited with a number of societies during her life, including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal British Society of Artists and the United Society of Artists.

Her style became distinctive in the use of bold, highly saturated colours applied in rapid, confident brushstrokes. Her still lifes are her most recognisable subject, and draw comparisons with the still lifes of post war British artists such as Vanessa Bell and Christopher Wood.

As well as teaching art, for many years Nash was the secretary of the U Society of Artists. and subsequently became their president. Her work is held in collections throughout Europe and the UK.
