A most charming painting of a house surounded by a garden.
Inscribed to the rear is the name Lesley Hunter. This painting is not to be confused with those by Leslie Hunter who in the 1920s emerged alongside Cadell, Fergusson and Peploe as one of a group of artists who became known as ‘Scottish Colourists’. The first name is spelt differently to verso.
However, this artist like them was influenced, in varying degrees, by the pure, bright colour and loose brushwork of French Impressionsim, Post-Impressionism and fauve painting.
In addition, to the qualities of the painting itself the gilt frame is rather substantial and impressive.
Approx measurements inc frame: H:32 W:40 D:7cm
Condition: Scuff, marks and cracks to the frame. The painting is in good condition.
20th Century.
